Ginger Edmunds found inspiration for her line of dog blankets in the most loveable place: her pup! With a desire to help charities – and an eye for style – the Hawaii resident launched her Barking Dog Blankets, designing comfy resting places for pets in a variety of colors and patterns.
Though multi-purpose, the blankets are meant to cover carseats, keeping them clean from sand and dander throughout your travels. A sewn-in pocket covers the headrest, letting the rest of the material drape over the seat – and under the dog! The blankets are double-sided, 100 percent cotton and cotton blend and trimmed with an adorable signature bone print.
Using the colors, sights and sounds of the Aloha State –blue seas, sun and warm winds – Edmunds says her wares make a "tropical fashion statement." Available in a variety of sizes (and machine-washable!), they range in price from about $19 to $107, depending on size and style. Not one to waste materials, Edmunds uses leftover fabrics to craft pint-sized pet pillows in a blend of bright hues.
Sadly, Edmunds's beloved pooch Rockie passed away in October. But to honor her legacy, the designer donates a portion of proceeds to a different animal charity each month, in her name. "Although my donations are small," she says, "I believe every little bit helps." Aloha to that!
