Amazing Photo! Moses the Calf Bears a Special Cross
Moses, now just two weeks old, looked like any other newborn calf when he came out of the womb, but when he was cleaned up and dry, there it was – a startling white cross on the chestnut-haired calf's forehead.
There are 100 bull calves born on the Davis Dairy Farm each year, says Megan Johnson, who, with Davis, co-owns neighboring Buttercup Farm. Johnson recently began a bull calf rescue, selling Davis's calves through craigslist.com for $100, and giving $75 back to the Davis farm. Movie producers, ranchers, religious people, bull riders, all kinds of people have called to offer to buy the special calf, but Moses wont be selling for a mere $100.
"If this isn't a sign from above, I don't know what is," Johnson tells PEOPLEPets.com. She first wants to do what's best for Moses, but she also hopes that Moses's sale will help put a new roof on the barn, which has been leaking for the past 15 years.
That will cost the struggling farm $80,000, and so far, the biggest offer for Moses has been $20,000.
While he waits to find a new home, Moses has been showing more and more of his personality. "He is such a cutie," Johnson says. "You let him out of his stall and he just runs around kicking his hooves in the air. He's just a very playful, loving, affectionate calf."
