Jill Rappaport's Pet Gear for Pendleton: Chic and Charitable
First she ruled the red carpet, then she devoted herself to the protection of pets, and now Jill Rappaport is tackling another realm: pet fashion. The Today correspondent – who recently penned two books about rescue animals – just launched a line of pet gear for clothing company Pendleton, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the American Indian College Fund and the Jack and Jill Rappaport Foundation for animal wellness.

Rappaport's dog beds and sweaters feature two Native American-inspired patterns that the reporter chose herself – a blue and orange "Desert Star" theme and a tan "Diamond Dance" motif. Beds ($248) measure 36 inches around and are stuffed with a plump polyester pillow, while jackets (small to large, $78-$138) are secured with elastic Velcro straps and lined with soft velour.

Pendleton is known for its warm, rich virgin wool and Native American blankets, which are all woven on mills in the U.S. Though the pet gear isn't machine washable, it's durable, sanitary and dry-cleaner safe.

Rappaport's line also includes coats and handbags for women, and proceeds from those items benefit her choice charities, too.
