REVIEW: Scentsy Flameless Candles Make Sense for Curious Pets
My cat is sporting singed eyebrows that could only have come from one place in my home: The beautifully scented candle that sits on my coffee table. Believe me, I'm careful not to let this mischievous little guy near fire – I only light the candle when I'm around to monitor him. But somehow or another his eyebrows went up in smoke when I wasn't looking and they haven't grown back yet.

So I was happy to hear about a new way to make my apartment smell nice that won't put my curious feline in danger: Scentsy flameless candles. They are perfect for owners whose pets are like a moth to a flame.

The company, which is essentially setup like Avon, with representatives scattered all over the country, has a wide selection of warmers, small ceramic plug-in lamps that melt scented wax. Some of the plug-ins are animal themed – including wild zebra stripes and a perfect-for-the-kitchen rooster – and there's even a special "I Love My Pet" warmer, decorated with cute paws. Most of the warmers come in tasteful, muted colors that can blend easily with personal styles.

But just like with real Yankee candles (a favorite in my home), the best part is choosing a flavor. There are over 80 different scents to choose from; in our red "Weave Collection" wall plug-in, we sampled Cinnamon Cider, which was delicious, and are dying to try Orange Dreamsicle, Vanilla Cream and Twilight (maybe the next time we watch the movie on DVD!).

I was surprised that it took just a few minutes for the wax to melt and for the glorious apple scent to fill my living room. I suppose my guy could still dip his paw into it (the outlet I plugged the warmer into was at his eye-level, but he never seemed interested in it), but if he ever does, at least he'll learn a messy lesson about wax rather than a potentially deadly one about fire.
