Katherine Heigl hasn't been very subtle about her unabashed love of dogs. The actress, in addition to creating charitable campaigns around adoption and rescue, has six furkids of her own, but they haven't come without a bit of strategic negotiating.

The actress tells Harper's Bazaar in their new issue that her sixth, Mojo, almost didn't get his forever home with Heigl and her husband, singer Josh Kelley.

Heigl found Mojo on the set of her always-a-bridesmaid romantic comedy, 27 Dresses, and wanted to bring him home. Unfortunately, Kelley had already maxed out at five.

"I started crying," Heigl tells Harper's. "I said, 'Where's your heart? Where's your soul? I'm supposed to be marrying you, and you don't know who I am by now,' and he's like, 'Fine, just take the dog. Jesus.' "

Heigl might have another dog up her sleeve (at some point down the line). She told PEOPLEPets.com last month that she was hankering for a seventh.

"I'm trying to talk my husband into one more right now," she told PEOPLEPets.com exclusively. "But he is not cool with it."

For now, Heigl will settle for happy days with husband, new baby Naleigh and six furbabies.
