After a public contest, the Bronx Zoo's newest lion cubs now have names! 40 percent of the vote went to Nala, Adamma and Shani. They mean "gift," "beautiful girl" and "wonderful" in Swahili, respectively. –New York Daily News
The New York City Bar claims that the city's pigeons are being captured and thrown into vans, then driven to Pennsylvania, where they are then sold to be used in shooting competitions. Pennsylvania is considering a statewide ban on pigeon shooting. –Wall Street Journal
