The Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society in Menands, N.Y., got a big surprise on Friday: a 30-lb cat was found nearby and dropped off at the shelter. They believe the hefty feline is someone's lost pet, but as of Tuesday morning no one had come forward.–wten.com

David Beers, 25, of Frederick, Md., was sentenced to 4 months in jail for throwing a stranger's teacup Chihuahua off of a bridge in a fit of rage. Beers took the dog from the Wantzes family's yard after they ordered him off their property when he was making a cell phone call.–AP
