REVIEW: KatKabin Gives Kitties Shelter from Storms
Many housecats love to go outdoors. What they don't love is when a sudden raincloud passes through and their owner isn't there to open the door and let them back in. The KatKabin DezRez Outdoor Cat House can help.

Made of fade-resistant plastics and shaped like a kitty itself, the KatKabin comes in a rainbow of colors and offers cats a safe and stylish shelter from rain, wind and snow. And unlike larger doghouses, the KatKabin is cat–sized (about 22 in. long, 16 in. wide and 13 in. high), giving cats a secure space to sleep and escape the elements. Small plastic feet keep the KatKabin off the ground, while a removable snap-on door and machine-washable cushion help keep kitty comfy inside.

A little catnip sprinkled inside the KatKabin was all it took to get my cats to inspect the premises, and once inside they happily settled in for a midday snooze. They seemed to like the oval shape of it and the way it allowed them to keep an eye on the yard through the open door. I like the way it added a dash of color and whimsy to the yard.

In the past, I've bought doghouses to shelter my neighborhood strays through the winter. The KatKabin is a much cuter alternative. At $99, it isn't cheap, but it can be a welcome refuge for feral kitties who have to weather the elements or for indoor-outdoor cats who just wind up outside at the wrong time.
