The void left by Paul the Psychic Octopus's death will soon be filled by another cephalopod. "Behind the scenes, a young Paul is already acclimatizing himself, he was meant to be trained by Paul the First in the coming weeks," said aquarium officials. –SPIEGEL ONLINE

Randy Quaid and his wife Evi were arrested last week in Canada, but they had their dog, Doji, with them. While the Quaids are detained in Vancouver, Doji has been at a shelter, where he may soon become city property. –

When an Ohio SPCA picked up a box of puppies along the side of a highway, they thought the litter consisted of five dogs. A few days later, a sixth puppy was delivered to the shelter by a good Samaritan – the puppy is blind, but she recognized her littermates. –Fox 8

A high school student in Kansas objected to a class project that required her to raise and slaughter her own chicken. The student put the bird, named Chicklett, into her purse and took him home. She was suspended for leaving school grounds but allowed to keep Chicklett. –
