Kate Gosselin stays true to her word. After vowing in May to bring the family's German shepherds Shoka and Nala home, the reality mom made good on at least part her promise, returning Shoka to her little "pack" on Sunday night's Halloween-themed episode of Kate Plus 8.
"It was, like, better than any Christmas I could ever imagine," she told the cameras after reuniting her eight children with the pooch. "Shoka's back ... for good."
Though Nala was nowhere to be found, the Gosselin kids were ecstatic enough about seeing their other loyal pup. In an interview following the greeting, two of the Gosselin boys gushed about how they "hugged and kissed" Shoka, and "petted his tail."
The reunion came at a crucial time for the family: recently, two of Gosselin's 6-year-old sextuplets were allegedly expelled from school, and the reality mom continues to come under fire for her parenting. Watching the children cuddle with Shoka made all the difference for Gosselin, though; she was visibly touched by their "thank-yous."
After ex-husband Jon Gosselin sent Shoka and Nala away in September of last year – reportedly to a breeder, who was set to train them – Kate told PEOPLE they would return. "My kids' lives have been changed and compromised and altered enough over the past year," she said. "I realized if I had two difficult kids I wouldn't send them away and ask for new kids."
Perhaps we'll be seeing Nala again in an upcoming episode, too?
