He may be a big-league baseball player, but New York Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher is all about small dogs. "They're like, this big," he told PEOPLEPets.com, while gesturing with his hands just a few inches apart, Tuesday at a Movember charity event in New York. "So it's not like they take up much room."
The 30-year-old, who is engaged to Better With You star Joanna Garcia, has four little dogs: Cooper, Fiona, Tia and Gibson. Two of them are Chihuahuas, the others are mixed breeds. "They're all great dogs," he gushed. "We're happy to have them be a part of our family."
The pups are so much a part of the family, in fact, that they snuggle up to Swisher whenever he's home. "Sometimes they're on the bed, sometimes they're off. They work their magic," he said.
And while they don't usually travel with Swisher or Garcia, the pups are always eager to see their owners again after long trips. "The great thing about dogs [is that] they don't care if you had a bad day at work, they're just happy to see you," Swisher said. "They brighten up our lives."
