Mission: Accomplished.
Ellen DeGeneres, and Halo Pet Foods, in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service, The Humane Society of the U.S., Freekibble and others, have donated one million meals to shelter pets all over the country.
The campaign to give out a million meals was announced in March, when DeGeneres first pledged to feed pets awaiting adoption. It officially launched on April 30, when a social awareness stamp was released by the Postal Service.
When the campaign began, DeGeneres said, "Imagine, an animal in a shelter, in a cage, lonely –a good meal is all they have to look forward to – until you adopt them!"
Throughout the course of the rally to quiet a million rumbling tummies, Halo was able to reach over 100 shelters, including the Caboodle Ranch, Rescue Ink and the ASPCA.
"We are thrilled with the success of the campaign and the incredible number of supporters who helped us to achieve this goal," Halo's CEO Steve Marton said in a press release. "It's our mission to make a real difference for pets."
