It’s a look Elizabeth Taylor would have loved: antique-inspired leather cuffs adorned with beautiful costume stones worthy of any dame’s wrist.
For animal lovers who like to wear their affection, it’s often challenging to find classy and sophisticated baubles. Houston-based designer Caron Walior kept coming up against this challenge and came up with a solution herself.
“I wanted [to design] something more elegant,” she tells PEOPLEPets.com, “for when you were dressing up and wanted something to wear.” The cuffs, of course, can also add a touch of glamour to a casual outfit for a Sunday afternoon.
Her project first began in 2006, when Walion started repurposing jewels found at her mother’s estate. She applied them to the aluminum-based leather cuffs she made herself. She’s since made jewelry that features dragonflies, turtles and owls.
She looks far and wide for unique stones for her cuffs, which start at $64. “I go to lots of different antique malls and I’ll find one of a kind pieces,” she says.
With her rescue pit bull Ralphie by her side, Walion works full time to maintain her Etsy store, Armed With Style. Her cuffs come in an array of colors, including green, pink and blue. She also happily takes custom requests – just she send her a message through Etsy.
