Sure, you've heard of Doga, the art of doing yoga with your dog. But we can guarantee you've never seen it done quite like this.
Thanks to the magic of Photoshop, photographer Dan Borris stretches dogs to lengths they never could achieve on a real yoga mat in his new photo book, Yoga Dogs
($15.95). It features 45 illustrations of canines doing actual yoga poses, like the tree pose, swan pose, and warrior II.
Borris, whose work has appeared in Vanity Fair
and the New York Times
, was inspired to create images of pooches doing poses when he witnessed his friend's English bull terrier imitating her morning yoga ritual. First came calendars
featuring dogs and cats, and then, with help from his choreographer-wife, Alejandra Diaz-Berrio, who practices yoga, a book was born. Yoga Dogs'
will inspire you to hit the mat and the nuggets of wisdom sprinkled throughout it's pages will make you laugh: "Those who are free of resentful thoughts (and fleas) will surely find peace."
