Home. Some cats and dogs never have one to call their own. We'd like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary homeless pet every week. Say hello to Tiffy, a retriever-Shar Pei mix who was saved from a shelter by the Last Chance Rescue of Howell, Mich.
This active canine loves to run and is "like Flash Gordon," says foster mom, Jan Libbey. "She is here then you look and she isn't anymore."
That's a far cry from where she was about a year ago when Last Chance rescued her from an area shelter. "She was a stray that was skin and bones," Libbey says. "She was basically starved."
In about a year's time Tiffy, who was born in 2008, regained all of her weight and completed dog obedience courses; she knows all of her commands and is fantastic on a leash. After a bout with heartworm, she's been given a clean bill of health.
She'd be great for a family with older kids (ages 10 and up) and her perfect master would be one who is always up for a jog. "Now the weight has toned up and it's muscle," Libbey says. "She's feeling really, really good about herself. She's made the transition."
For more information on how you can adopt Tiffy contact the Last Chance Rescue via email: lcrhowell@yahoo.com or call, (810) 220-9394.
The Last Chance Rescue was established in 1985 and aims to find homes for animals who face euthanasia at area shelters. It is run solely by volunteers and many of the animals are in foster care.
