Lacey Schwimmer may not have advanced very far in this season of Dancing With the Stars, but now, she's got a new snuggle partner to keep her busy.
This weekend, while attending a Modnique.com/Much Love Animal Rescue fundraising event with dance parter Mike Catherwood, Schwimmer met Akira, a Min Pin-Chihuahua mix who was once homeless and abused.
Found as a stray, Akira had sustained a bad sprain in her neck and needed to wear a brace for two weeks. Despite her condition, Akira has a bright and bubbly personality, according to Much Love. She constantly wags her "little stub tail."
When Schwimmer approached Much Love's adoption area, Akira ran toward her and started to jump and park. Schwimmer picked the dog up, and was promptly showered with kisses. The two were inseparable from that point – Schwimmer decided to adopt her on the spot – and they walked around the rest of the event together.
Akira joins French bulldog Bijou and Chihuahuas Madeleine and Harlequin – and she's sure to get plenty of face time on Schwimmer's Twitter page soon!
