What's in a name?
For Kasi, the world's cutest baby cheetah cub, the name means "one with speed" in Swahili. And for 8-week-old Kasi's new best friend, the 16-week-old female Labrador puppy, the name Mtani is Swahili for "close friend."
The two Busch Gardens buddies got help with their names from a Facebook poll, and their fans made some helpful suggestions in addition to voting. One liked the idea of naming them Will and Kate, which would have been a topical choice. Another offered Sugar and Spice, though it's hard to say which animal would get which name.
Kasi and Mtani and currently hanging out in the Tampa Bay, Fla., parks's Jambo Junction, and will remain there for the next few months. They will eventually move on to the larger Cheetah Run habitat and will help to educate guests on the park's conservation efforts.
