When millions of people tune in on Friday to see Kate Middleton walk down the grandest aisle in the world
, some will be watching the bride closely, and others will be paying more attention to the groom. If the popularity of pet names gives us any clues, Prince William is definitely more popular than Kate – among cat people, that is.
According to the records of Banfield Pet Hospital, which keeps a database on the more than 5 million pets it treats each year, the rate of cats named Prince William has more than doubled since 2009. And, at the rate things are going in 2011, there will be a nearly 70-percent increase in the number of cats named William this year.
On the bride's side, Kate and Catherine are much more popular as names for dogs than is Will or William. And, this year, there are lots more Kates and Catherines among dogs than ever before – perhaps inspired by the soon-to-be royal.
