The British prime minister's official residence, 10 Downing Street, had some unexpected visitors at the start of the year: rats.
So, David Cameron hired – and adopted
– a 4-year-old tabby cat named Larry to take care of those pesky, undesirable guests. Having once been a wild cat, Larry was known for his "strong predatory drive," but those campaign promises didn't have any merit. Larry was not the mouser they said he was, and a month after his arrival, he hadn't caught
a single rat. (His preferred activity? Sleeping.)
Now, two months following his hire, and after a bit of training with a toy rodent, the chief mouser has finally done good
. Last Friday, Larry came from the Downing Street garden – with a mouse in his mouth. And, there might be more where that came from! Larry has time still left in his term to bring out more of the predator within.See more talented cats on PEOPLEPets.com:The Ready Set's Cat Is Big on Twitter Cats with Thumbs!
