Ready, set … read?
While out on the White House lawn with his family during the annual Easter Egg Roll on Monday, Bo Obama didn’t do much rolling, but he did do quite a bit of listening (and nearby, a giant statue of the Portuguese water dog – remember Faux Bo? – entertained children visiting the White House).
The First Dog, looking soft and fluffy as ever, sat nicely with First Lady Michelle Obama as the Obama daughters, 12-year-old Malia and 9-year-old Sasha, read the Maurice Sendak classic, Where the Wild Things Are. Bo turned his head toward them and listened closely as the girls took turns.
When it was President Obama’s turn to read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom with Mrs. Obama, Bo was instructed to sit. The 2-year-old pup rested his head on Mrs. Obama’s foot as she read. Then, all the letters began to fall in the story, and Bo put his paw up on Mrs. Obama’s lap to get some attention.
But the story hadn’t ended and there was more to tell, so Bo was handed over to Malia, who sat with him and petted him until the President and First Lady finished their reading. The End!
