Isaac Mizrahi has a natural people repellent in his dog, Dean.
"People come to my house and they get bitten and barked at and terrified, and they run away screaming," the designer told PEOPLEPets.com at the Good Shepherd Services Spring Gala in New York on Wednesday. Mizrahi added, with a twinkle in his eye, "He's kind of a monster."
Mizrahi, who is also Dad to dog Harry, is willing to admit that he's partly to blame. "I tend to not be the best disciplinarian in the world," he said. "It's a funny thing. I [shouldn't] say no and yet be laughing hysterically while they're chewing somebody's Prada sweater."
Mizrahi is working on it, and he has some goals for himself and 4-year-old Dean. "I have to figure out how I can get him to stop barking in a very humane, nice way," he said. "I don't know how to do it, frankly, and it's driving me mad."
He joked that there is one advantage to Dean's behavior with visitors: "In some ways, it's kind of genius, because who wants people in your house?" he said. "'Oh, nice that you came over – thanks for dropping in. Just teasing!'"
