After the birth of their daughter a little over a year ago, Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane didn't need to beef up their security –they had their dog, Nellie.
"The second we brought Billie home, [Nellie] elected herself the Buckingham Palace guard," Dane told PEOPLEPets.com last week at IWC Schaffhausen and Peter Lindbergh's "A Night in Portofino" event. "She doesn't go anywhere. When Rebecca was feeding Billie, she would sit under Rebecca's feet." Nellie, a Chihuahua, would bark at anyone who got near little Billie Beatrice – even if that someone was Dane!
Dane's other dog, a Maltese named Jackie, is older than Nellie and "a little bit of a curmudgeon," Dane said. "Jackie is kind of an old, cantankerous dog." Both dogs, he said, have "some great hair," and both are beloved by Billie.
"Billie loves to pet them," he said, "but her pet is more of a smack. We tell her, 'Be nice. Pet the dog.'"
