Adopt Me! 'Purr Bucket' Aiko Is Lucky to Be Alive

Home. Some cats and dogs never have one to call their own. We'd like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary homeless pet every week. Today, we'd like you to meet Aiko, a stray who was rescued by the Adirondack Save-a-Stray rescue in Corinth, N.Y.

A few weeks ago, a good Samaritan spotted this stray kitten walking around with a pretty gruesome leg injury. Taken to Save-a-Stray for treatment, Aiko suffered from a broken leg and bone infection and is "very lucky to be alive," says Meredith Fiel, executive director of the rescue.

The 12 to 14-week-old tabby's right front leg will forever be "bent a little," but it doesn't slow him down one bit. "Many times when you find when these animals are mistreated like this, they are just love bugs," Fiel says. "And Aiko is a lovable little bug."

Recovered and ready for adoption, this sweetheart of a cat loves a good rub and is a real "purr bucket," she says. He'll jump at the chance to sit in a comfortable lap.

If you can envision Aiko purring in your lap, call the Save-a-Stray shelter at 518-654-6220. In addition to placing 2,500 pets a year into loving homes, the Adirondack Save-a-Stray rescue offers low-cost wellness and veterinary services and is happy to accept your monetary donations.
