Attention pet owners, Betty White
needs your help!
In a new public service announcement
released this month, the actress and her furry friend Dempsey aim to raise awareness for pet cancer, which claims the lives of one in four dogs over the age of two.
During the month of May – Pet Cancer Awareness Month – PETCO, the Morris Animal Foundation, and the Blue Buffalo company have teamed up to raise money for a cure. For every bag of Blue Buffalo dog or cat food bought this month, PETCO will donate $1 to the Morris Animal Foundation. But interested animal lovers can also donate an amount of their own choosing by visiting any PETO counter.
Last year's effort raised $800,000, but this year, White is inviting pet owners to do even better – by raising $1 million.
"If pet cancer has already touched your life, as it has mine, share your story, gain inspiration from pets that have beat the odds," she says in the video. "With your help, we will be one step closer in helping our friends live a longer, healthier, cancer-free life."
