At only 11-years-old, Bailee Madison gets to work on Hollywood film sets and attend red carpet premieres, but her favorite place to be is with her goldendoodle, Mattie.
"She always makes me happy," Madison told PEOPLE at the premiere of her new film, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, in L.A. Sunday. "I feel like she always makes us laugh."
Since making her onscreen debut in 2006, the budding star has racked up screen credits opposite Jennifer Aniston in Just Go With It and most recently, Katie Holmes in Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, but what she's really been working towards is a pet.
"I [finally] got a doggie, which I've been wanting for a lot of years now," Madison said, adding that her blossoming career also has its setbacks.
"I feel bad because I'm missing part of her childhood sometimes," she explained, "but I get to Facetime [with her with] my mom's phone and my sister's phone. So, that's always good."
Having decided to spend the summer at home instead of working, the actress can look forward to more one-on-one time with Mattie soon, who recently just learned to catch a Frisbee in the air.
"She always has something new and exciting," Madison said.
