Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s new dog, Charlie, isn’t the only one who benefited from the modest sum of $10,000 that the couple paid for him at an auction last month. Holly Robinson Peete’s HollyRod Foundation, which helps families coping with autism and Parkinson’s disease, also got a boost from the charitable purchase.
“Let me tell you something, that was one of the best moments of our event,” Robinson Peete told PEOPLE at Wednesday’s 11th Annual Harold Pump Foundation Gala in Los Angeles. “The fact that [Ozzy] even showed up was amazing, and I didn’t even even expect him to stay that long. But he enjoyed himself, he had a good time, and when he bought the dog it was just such a great moment.”
The once-abandoned puppy has gone from being homeless to becoming an Osbourne and will spend the rest of his summer in London with his new family – but he couldn’t go without first making an appearance on The Talk!
“Ozzy was about to leave town for a month and he had already bonded with the dog,” said Robinson Peete, who, following the auction, informed the Osbournes that Charlie wouldn’t be ready to take home for another week. “Ozzy was like, ‘Sharon, where’s my dog? Get me my dog!’”
Robinson Peete helped to make it happen: During a taping of The Talk last week, she brought Charlie out to greet a very shocked Sharon.
“I had the dog in my dressing room,” Robinson Peete recalled, laughing. “It was just so much fun to surprise her.”
