Adopt Me! Loving Dog Trixie Is An Independent Woman
"She's a strong-willed female," says animal control aid Staci McPherson from the Tri-Valley Animal Rescue in Pleasanton, Calif. "She doesn't go out of her way to offend other dogs, but if a dog is going to get in her face first or act aggressively towards her, she will react."
Because of her bold nature, the dog needs to be placed in a home without other pets and needs a responsible owner who will teach her some manners. "She came from an owner who clearly didn't spend enough time socializing her," says McPherson. "But she's super sweet, energetic, very curious, and she loves attention from people. She's very eager to please."
She's also seriously attached to her ball – and needs to learn to share. "The person who evaluated her said she would be better in a home without kids," McPherson says. "Her stuff is hers. She's possessive over her toys."
Pushovers need not apply to adopt this sassy pooch. "She need somebody who's not going to let her get away with everything," says the rescue's president, Susan James. "She's needs discipline."
