Target isn't the only place Michelle Obama shops.

The First Lady's trip to the discount retailer last month caused a stir, but Mrs. Obama says it wasn't that unusual an event.

"Quiet as it's kept, although not so quiet, I do that more frequently than people realize," Obama told Al Roker on the Today show. "It's amazing how people don't recognize you. They don't expect to see me at Starbucks or at Chipotle."

"I actually took Bo to Petco and the cashier asked me, 'Oh, what kind of dog is that?'" she recalled. "[I] said, 'A Portuguese water dog.' He didn't recognize us. He didn't expect that we would be in Petco."

While Obama's shopping excursions mostly seem to revolve around provisions for the First Dog, there are other household items she doesn't have to worry about buying.

Roker asked, "Do you like the big budget? Go to Costco? Do you buy a lot of toilet tissue at once?"

She replied, "You know, we pretty much have our supplies stocked. It's one of the advantages."
