Forget hometown dates where girls meet the parents – Ben Flajnik opted to introduce one special lady to his dog first!
Model Courtney, 28, passed the pooch test with flying colors Monday, when Bachelor Ben's Jack Russell terrier, Scotch, tagged along for a romantic picnic under towering redwoods in Flajnik's hometown of Sonoma, Calif.
"I was surprised that we were so lovely-dovey so early on," Flajnik wrote on his PEOPLE.com blog Tuesday. "It really helped that Scotch was a fan of Courtney's too."
Things did indeed get pretty heavy on the couple's first date. "He's heavier than he looks," Courtney told Flajnik as she led the dog by leash.
"He's a little over 20 lbs.," Flajnik replied. "When he stays at Grandma's house, he puts on a few L-B-S."
After goofing around trying to make Scotch howl, the pair sat near a brook and got to know each other a little better.
"It was just him and I, and Scotch," Courtney said. "It was so romantic."
All that romance seemed to make Scotch a little jealous. When Flajnik went in for a smooch, the dog started to whine.
"You're ruining the moment, Buddy," Flajnik said.
