Betty White may be 90, but the babies want to be just like her!
The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association announced this week that a baby orangutan born at the Los Angeles Zoo has been named Elka, after the nonagenarian’s Hot in Cleveland character, Elka Ostrovsky.
White, who wrote about her passion for zoo in a book released last year, has been a supporter of the Los Angeles Zoo for 50 years, and Hot in Cleveland’s network, TV Land, provided a gift to support the zoo and White’s commitment to it.
“How appropriate that the most beautiful baby orangutan ever is named for my Hot in Cleveland character Elka Ostrovsky,” White said.
Larry W. Jones, the president of TV Land, said there’s a very good reason that the sweet monkey was named for the legendary star: “Because they are both so adorable and cuddly!”
