Adopt Me! Blood Donor Liberty Has Saved Hundreds of Lives
A former blood donor, healthy Liberty has given her blood to cats in need for a good portion of her life. A resident at the Hudson Valley Humane Society in Pomona, N.Y., for the past three years, Liberty is looking for a loving home to live out her retirement.
Not that she's short on love. The plucky cat is a staff favorite at the shelter, where she has her own custom-built space where she can climb, perch and look out the window. As nice as it is, it doesn't compare to having a place to truly call her own.
"I could see this cat laying on somebody's bed," says Ann Marie Gaudio, executive vice president of the shelter. "Or in somebody's lap."
Liberty may be generous with her blood, but not with her space. "She needs to be in a household where she's the only cat," says Gaudio. "She's a dominant cat. She's also a hero in my book. I can't believe we can't get her a good home."
The people-friendly kitty, who is "bigger than your average bear," loves to be cuddled and would make a great companion for the right owner. If Liberty sounds like the friend you've been looking for, contact the shelter at (845) 354-3124.
