Steffi Graf’s dog is lucky to be alive.

The tennis legend recently rescued her tiny Yorkie from a wild coyote who was stalking the Nevada home she shares with her husband Andre Agassi and their two children.

“It’s great living in the desert, but one of the issues we have been facing lately is that there are coyotes around,” she wrote on her WhoSay page Tuesday.

Graf, who also has a black Lab, shared a close-range photo of a coyote. “You can see how close one of them got,” she wrote, “and just a few days ago, we managed to barely rescue our dog Yankee from another one.”

Dubbing the incident “crazy,” the athlete has definitely learned an important lesson about coexisting with coyotes. “The canyon near where we live is very beautiful,” she wrote, “but now we know to be a little more careful especially with a small pet.”
