Josh Hutcherson named his newly adopted rescue pit bull Driver after the character played by Ryan Gosling in Drive. "I always thought it was a good name for a dog, so it just kind of worked out," he said. –New York Daily News

When his owner could no longer take care of him, Meow, a 2-year-old cat who weighs 40 lbs., was given to a New Mexico animal shelter, which is now hoping to help him lose weight so he can be put up for adoption. "The thing with this cat is when you look at it, certainly it's obese … but it's a sweet looking cat. His face is very sweet," shelter spokesman Ben Swan said. –AP
