While promoting new film Darling Companion
, in which she and Kevin Kline play a longtime married couple who takes in a rescue dog, Diane Keaton brought out a pup looking for a home of its own Thursday during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
After Leno held up the cover of AARP magazine
, on which the actress poses alongside her rescue dog Emmy, Keaton rushed offstage and soon returned bearing a puppy named Clover in her arms.
"I'm on the board of the Helen Woodward Animal Center down in Rancho Santa Fe [California]. We were down there last week, and I knew I was going to go on Jay's show and I saw this dog," she told the audience. "I just thought maybe somebody in the audience might want to rescue Clover. Clover needs a home."
Showing off the cuddly canine, who sports black and gray hair, Keaton also noted its resemblance to Leno, quipping, "Clover looks like Jay … except without the chin."
