Diane Keaton Asks Tonight Show Audience to Adopt Dog
While promoting new film Darling Companion, in which she and Kevin Kline play a longtime married couple who takes in a rescue dog, Diane Keaton brought out a pup looking for a home of its own Thursday during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
After Leno held up the cover of AARP magazine, on which the actress poses alongside her rescue dog Emmy, Keaton rushed offstage and soon returned bearing a puppy named Clover in her arms.
"I'm on the board of the Helen Woodward Animal Center down in Rancho Santa Fe [California]. We were down there last week, and I knew I was going to go on Jay's show and I saw this dog," she told the audience. "I just thought maybe somebody in the audience might want to rescue Clover. Clover needs a home."
Showing off the cuddly canine, who sports black and gray hair, Keaton also noted its resemblance to Leno, quipping, "Clover looks like Jay … except without the chin."
