Uggie is set to publish a memoir due out in October. In addition to The Artist, the Jack Russell terrier also starred in Water for Elephants and The Descendants. –

Five exotic animals will be returned to the widow of the Zanesville, Ohio, man who released 50 animals from his property last October before ultimately committing suicide. Marian Thompson will receive two leopards, two monkeys and a bear, all of which have been living at the Columbus Zoo after the incident. –ABC News

Several parts of Australia have named the koala a "vulnerable" species as a result of a declining population, which has dropped as much as 40% since 1990. Though the species is holding steady or thriving in other areas, animal activists would like to see the koala receive protection throughout the country. –BBC

Dogs originally trained to sniff out bombs are now searching for Burmese pythons at Florida's Everglades National Park. Thus far, the group has helped researchers trap 19 pythons, including a pregnant snake with 19 eggs. –Reuters
