Wee! No, really!

This 1-week-old Egyptian tortoise is so small, it's no bigger than a 20-pence piece – and that's smaller than a quarter! The tortoise is one of four that hatched at England's Marwell Wildlife, and they have already caused a stir with the visiting public.

"They are adorable, so cute and tiny," says keeper Kimberley Goodfield. "They've had a great response from visitors." The species is critically endangered and the tortoise babies are the first to be born at the wildlife center in five years. Once two adult females laid the eggs, they were put into an incubator and kept in controlled conditions for 111 days before they hatched.

It will be a few years before the tortoises will be big enough to find for themselves and join the adults, but until then, they're going to keep being their cute selves.
