Horse racing fans won't be witnessing history on Saturday after all.

I'll Have Another, the winner of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, was pulled from the Belmont Stakes. He would have been the first Triple Crown winner in 34 years if he won Saturday's Belmont Stakes, and he was the favorite to win it.

On Friday, the horse's trainer, Dan O'Neill, revealed on The Dan Patrick radio show that I'll Have Another "is officially out of the Belmont" – and may never race again.

Update: The reason for I'll Have Another's surprise scratch is that he has tendinitis in his left front leg, and along with I'll Have Another's owner, O'Neill has decided that the horse will be retired to stud.

"After all he has done, I think this is enough," O'Neill said.
