Molly is looking out for an old friend in the sweetest way possible.
The 2-year-old white English bulldog, who grew up with a cat named Kitty Kitty, has stepped in as surrogate mom to the feline's newborn kittens after she was hit by a car, according to the Dothan Eagle.
"Normally they stay with her five or 10 minutes. She lays down and lets them eat," said the dog's owner, Elbert Bristow, of Columbia, Ala. "It is unusual, very unusual. Really they're natural enemies. Most dogs can't stand cats."
Instead this doggy treats the four 6-week-old kittens just like her own three pups, who she had the same week. For now, Bristow is keeping the two litters separated on his property.
Eighty-four-year-old Bristow is quite torn up about the loss of the cat – which he accidentally ran over with his own car – but the kittens seem to be adjusting just fine. "We hated to lose her," he told the Eagle. "Hopefully one of these kittens will be like her because she was real sweet."
