They’re headlining a concert at London’s Hyde Park during the Olympics opening ceremony this month, and Duran Duran couldn’t be happier to be heading home. Singer Simon LeBon and guitarist John Taylor tell PEOPLE that leaving their pets behind in England as they tour the world is one of the hardest parts of the job.
For Taylor, saying so long to his “marvelous” Chihuahua Violet and his Chinese crested Sid, is “the worst.”
When he’s traveling, LeBon pines for his big family of animals, including cats Chooch and Dusty, Boston terrier Cecil, Chihuahua Tinker and his very own lap dog, pug Luigi – who might actually benefit from a little separation from Dad.
“Pugs love to eat. People exist to feed pugs,” he says of the small pup. “He once ate [one pound] of Parmesan cheese – including the rind.”
