Cat Is Shot Three Times and Hit by a Car – and Survives!
Hit by a car on the Mountain Parkway in Kentucky, the kitty was scooped up by a Good Samaritan who saw him suffering on the road.
"I nearly hit him, myself," Crystal Byrd told WKYT News. "I had to go back."
The cat, which she named Milo, was barely alive when she got to him – he had lacerations on his face and back and some "weird scarring" on his head. But a local vet would determine that Milo's injuries were much more than meets the eye.
"The veterinarian did some X-rays and some scans, and he called me and told me that the cat had also, on top of being hit by the car, had been shot three times," she said. "The head, the spine and somewhere on the body."
The resilient feline is recovering in the care of Dr. Rudolph Ousley of Prestonburg, Ky., who is accepting donations to fund his care. Byrd told WKYT she plans to keep Milo if an owner doesn't come forward.
"They still don't know if he's going to be all right, it could be internal," she said. "He had some head trauma, he was still having a hard time even trying to lift himself up. He was still trying to meow, trying to get up, he has promise."
