Georgia's Horses & Warriors program helps military veterans overcome emotional and psychological obstacles by pairing them with horses for 12-week courses. Operated by volunteers, mostly veterans themselves, the program runs on donations and is free to the veterans who participate. In the California town of Mid-Wildshire, a small memorial has gone up in remembrance of Annie, a husky who came to be seen as the neighborhood pet. "Annie was really a touchstone for all of us. Scientists in Indonesia have begun to track their whale shark population using the same electronic tags placed on most pets. Thirty such fish living in the country's Cendrawasih Bay National Park were tagged with the devices last month, which have helped researchers see how local fishing nets are endangering the shark community. –Washington Post
