Who needs to fly when you can dash?

A burrowing owl at the ZSL London Zoo is getting into the Olympic spirit by participating in a 100-centimeter – yes, centimeter – sprint.

Through daily training sessions, Bob has perfected his technique, which involves tucking his wings back and leaning slightly forward as he runs on his tiny feet. The event is part of the zoo's Animal Athletes presentation, which aims to show off their residents' natural athletic abilities.

And the six-inch bird is training in style, too: he works out on a custom track created just for him. Perhaps there's a spot for Bob on the 2016 Olympic team?
