It was olive oil to the rescue for this little critter!
Police officers had a hard time freeing this squirrel, which got its head stuck in a manhole cover in Isernhagen, Germany, until a fast-thinking housewife offered up some of her cooking oil.
Fifteen minutes after rubbing the oil on the squirrel's neck and body, the officers were able to free him.
"We wanted to take him to a vet's for a checkup," one of the officers told the Daily Mail. "But he was having none of it. He legged it straight away into a garden and up a tree, which is where he belongs, I suppose."
