A kangaroo is on the lam after breaking out of a German wildlife park, which happened with the inadvertent help of a fox and a wild boar. A hole dug by the fox near the kangaroos' fences allowed for the initial escape, while a hole dug by a wild boar near the exterior of the park allowed the kangaroo to make its way out entirely. –AP
A road crew in Johnstown, Penn., accidentally painted yellow lines over the body of a dead raccoon. "They did try to stop the paint gun," traffic engineer John Ambrosini said. "But with the amount of congestion Thursday, the geometry of the road and the size of equipment, they couldn't turn around to go back and fix the mistake." –The Tribune-Democrat
A family of bears is suspected of breaking into a Norway cabin and finishing off over 100 cans of beer, in addition to eating all the food in the house and smashing furniture. "They had a hell of a party in there," cabin owner Even Borthen Nilsen said. –The Local
Researchers discovered something new about the sleep patterns of sperm whales when they accidentally snuck up on a pod off the coast of Chile. Finding the whales to be bobbing in the water with their noses above the surface, the team found that whales enter a period of full sleep, but only for a limited period of time, possibly making them the least sleep-dependent mammals. –Nature.com
A woman in Broken Arrow, Okla., is being held on $25,000 bond after biting a man's ear and attacking him with the family dog in what is believed to be a domestic disturbance case. Police reported the man had a large portion of his right ear missing, and small puncture wounds consistent with bites from the dog. –News On 6
