Is Michael Vick stocking up on dog biscuits? The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, who previously served time in prison
for running an illegal dog-fighting ring, raised eyebrows when he Tweeted a since-deleted picture in which a box of what appeared to be Milk-Bone treats sat in the corner. Vick is currently allowed to own a dog under the terms of his probation.
A hospitalized Islip, N.Y., man received a surprise visitor: his dog. His canine companion, Zander, escaped through the back door of his home, which is two miles away from the hospital. "He was moping around for the days I was already in the hospital, sitting in my seat and rolled up and depressed," his owner recalled.
An 8-year-old Utah boy put pen to paper in response to an animal shelter worker's own failure to write a note that would have saved his cat from being euthanized. In a letter published in a local newspaper last week, he writes, "Now I don't know what to do. My cat Toothless is dead; the people that killed him didn't even give him to my dad so we could bury him. What do I do now?"
There was an especially adorable underdog Friday at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. While English golfer Paul Casey was eyeing a putt, a dog made its way onto the green and picked up his ball. Although the canine ran off, Casey eventually let his furry fan have the ball.
Seattle pet owners worry cougars are a fatal danger that hasn't caught the attention of wildlife officials. "My heart is broken," said one local woman who lost her two dogs in as many weeks. "I don't want anyone to feel that way – it hurts."
