Kirstie Alley's Dog Recovering from Surgery

She avoided elimination on Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night, but Kirstie Alley isn't all smiles.

The actress's adored Corgi May has undergone a risky surgery and is beginning the slow process of recovery.

"Thank you all for your votes and working so hard on our behalf!!!! May I ask one more favor? My dog May needs your prayers," she Tweeted on Tuesday. "She just came out of a difficult surgery 20 minutes ago … She is my beloved."

Throughout the night the actress posted updates about her dog's delicate condition. "May came out of the anesthetic well … her vital signs are good … your prayers are working," she Tweeted.

By Wednesday morning, things continued to look good. "The May Report: Her vital signs are good… pink gums … sleeping peacefully… recovering as hoped," she said. "Not out of the woods yet. Prayers working :)"

As Alley's Twitter followers sent messages of support, she showed her gratitude.

"With prayers like this I feel confident May will be fine," she wrote. "Thank you more than you will ever know."
