Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We'd like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary adoptable pet every week. Meet Swayze, a boxer/mastiff mix who adores people.
This dog is the quintessential family companion. The 1-year-old, who was recently surrendered to the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter West Bank
in Marrero, La., is playful, loyal and adorably loving.
"He is eager to please and will shower you with affectionate kisses or tail wags," says program director Jacob Stroman. "He encapsulates all that a family dog should be and patiently awaits his opportunity to bring happiness and warmth to his next forever home."
Swayze loves to play with other dogs and is at ease around children. Toss him a tennis ball and he'll be your friend for life! But there's one thing the 62-lb. canine is extremely fearful of: cats. Described as a "sensitive" pooch, he prefers feline-free environments that are quiet, and attaches quickly to his humans.
"He will sleep at your feet and sleep patiently beside you," says Stroman, adding that Swayze is housebroken and heartworm negative.
If you think this sweetie is the new family member you've been searching for, contact the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter West Bank
to meet last week's adoptable pet, Benny.
Adopting a pet is an amazing experience – and a big decision! Before bringing a pet into your home it's important to consider your family circumstances and do your research on breeds.
