Adopt Me! Happy the Blind Cat Will Make You Smile

To honor that plucky feline, we found Happy, a three-legged, blind cat who really needs a place to call home.
It's truly remarkable what this adorable girl has overcome since she arrived at New York's ASPCA Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital in May. Happy's owner took her to the hospital after the cat sustained leg fractures in a fall – and never came back for her. Unfortunately, her fractures were so severe that vets decided she'd have the best shot at a normal life if her front leg was amputated. And then bad turned to worse: while recovering, Happy suffered a seizure that left her completely blind.
Despite her ordeal, Happy is incredibly upbeat. The 4-year-old hasn't had any trouble finding her way around or using her litter box. The person who adopts her will need to gradually introduce her to her new surroundings, so she can learn where things are.
"Happy is a real sweetheart, and has quickly stolen the hearts of staffers and volunteers alike," says ASPCA spokeswoman Mallory Kerley. "Although Happy won't be able to see her new family, we look forward to the day when an adopter can look past her differences and 'see' her for the amazing cat that she is."
If you think Happy is the loyal companion you've been searching for, contact the ASPCA at (212) 876-7700, ext. 4900.
