Don't try this at home!

Unless, of course, you have a well-behaved cat like this one and the inside of your pumpkin is lined to protect those paws from gourd goo.

The editorial team at Real Simple magazine worked hard to capture this purr-fect portrait, which graces the cover of their October issue, but it couldn't have been done without Tajari the cat. The Bombay feline "rocked it out" on the New York set, according to Real Simple assistant photo editor Eve Lyons. (In an interview, Tajari told us that photographer Stephen Lewis deserves some kitty kudos, too.)

Once you tear your eyes off the bewitching cover, you'll find that the Ultimate Fall Planner issue is chock-full of fun Halloween ideas, fall fashions and nifty storage solutions. And, on page 35, another black feline crosses your path to illustrate why "le chat noir" gets a bad rap around this time of year.
