Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We'd like to help change that by introducing you to extraordinary adoptable pets every week. Today, meet Charley, a cuddly canine with a winning personality.

Charley has "positude," according to Ron Plante from the Protectors of Animals rescue in East Hartford, Conn. "He is highly adoptable, friendly, happy, good with other dogs, obedient, lovable and cuddly."

The pup's easy-going attitude is even more impressive considering his genetic condition, which has left him with little control over his back legs.

"He has compensated for it, and can wobble along okay on the strength of his front legs and his undying spirit," says Plante. "But his back legs drag, creating open sores and exhausting him. He so wants to take a good walk."

Thus, Charley's ideal owner should be so completely in love with the 4-year-old – like the staff at the shelter is – that they'll give him a permanent place to call home and the wheels he needs to get around. If you can provide one or both of these things, contact the shelter at (860) 569-0722.

"We know there's a great home for him out there," Plante says. "He knows there's a big world out there, and he wants to enjoy it."
